In honor of taking part in my first IRONMAN 70.3 Muskoka triathlon on July 7th, 2019, I have decided to associate my efforts with the Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada®.
This past March, I attended Starlight’s annual gala, and I knew in that moment that I loved what they stand for. I love that they not only help make children living with life threatening illnesses dreams come true but also help the whole family.
Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada has been brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families by bringing them joy, laughter and relief, for 30 years. They focus on the family as a whole, at a time when they feel most isolated, offering programs and events that can provide an escape from the stress of dealing with a serious illness every day.
What makes Starlight unique is that they are there for the entire journey — from hospital to home.
As there are many Starlight programs, I have decided that all of the funds we raise together will go towards placing a Starlight Fun Center® in a hospital in tribute of my mother as she had a true love for children.
Whether hospitalized children are nervously awaiting surgery, sitting restlessly during a long treatment, or feeling lonely in their hospital room, the Starlight Fun Center helps them cope by providing endless hours of fun and distraction. The mobile entertainment unit features a flat screen television and a Nintendo Wii U gaming system preloaded with a wide variety of games. It is also internet ready allowing children to stay in touch with friends and family, watch movies and more.
I am asking you to help me reach my $10,000 goal by making a donation below.
Thank you for your support and for helping Starlight continue to put smiles on the faces of seriously ill children.
